One Response to “Gathering Blue, Lois Lowry”

  1. Mariajose A. Says:

    Summary:
Kira is an orphan with a crippled leg who lives in a society where the weak are killed if not useful. She is saved by Jamison, from the Council of Guardians, because she has a special talent that no other community member has. She is told that she has to fix and continue a Robe that is used for a celebration each year, she also gets the special treatment. After a while, she notices strange happenings and is confused. Therefore, she tries to solve them secretly with another gifted kid named Thomas and a little boy named Matt. They try hard to figure out what their society is hiding from them and what lies beyond it.

    Evaluation:
I thought there could have been more action near the beginning, but overall the book is satisfying. The whole “Scooby-doo” theme keeps the reader hooked. And, even though it lacked characters and the development of them, the way the story wraps up makes up for it. It was heart-touching, mysterious, and predictable which can be a good thing for some people. If you enjoy a thrilling read, this wouldn’t be the best choice, but if you like books by Lois Lowry, like The Giver, then this is the book for you.
