Summary: Throughout life we experience many traditions. As life goes on, we realize how important they become. Surface Tension by Brent Runyon tells of a yearly tradition of Luke and his family vacationing at their cottage on the lake for two weeks each summer. Throughout the book, four very different summers are told of. And although his surroundings may not be changing, Luke is surely being shaped by them.

Evaluation: I am not one typically to be interested in books about change and tradition. Thus, this book was not very appealing to me. On the other hand, it was easy to relate to (took place while Luke was in high school). I found the descriptions and imagery in the book to be very amusing and felt as though I was experiencing them. I would recommend this as a relaxing summer read.
