One Response to “Bomb, Steve Sheinkin”

  1. bachbooks Says:

    Summary:
In Bomb Steve Sheinkin weaves together the stories of various groups and individuals involved in the creation of the atomic bomb. He also chronicles the tales of the spies and scientists who worked to steal the blueprints for the bomb. Each group desperately scrambles to get the bomb and tilt the balance of power in their favor. They succeed in ending the war, but they may have opened Pandora’s Box with their efforts.

    Evaluation:
Engaging and informative narrative non-fiction, Bomb presents science, spy craft, political wrangling, commando missions, and more in a clear and accessible format. I like how Sheinkin treats each character even-handedly, presenting the stories in factual manner with an objective tone which lets readers form their own judgments. With short chapters and wide margins, even reluctant readers can fly through this book.
