  1. Owen J. Says:

Summary: This book is a biography of rap legend Tupac Shakur. Its chapters are ordered by important themes in his life, rather than chronologically. Author Michael Dyson discusses the influences in Tupac’s life and the heavy effect that women had on him. His family history included revolutionary civil rights activism, drug addiction, and single mothers. Tupac read a lot. He read hundreds of books, which expanded his vocabulary and would later help his songwriting skills. The final theme of the book was his death. Tupac knew that he death would not end him. His prophecy will forever be seen.

Evaluation: I liked this book a lot, because anything about Tupac is interesting and all the little behind the scene facts were worth the reading. It is a hard book to summarize though because it doesn’t follow a precise structure. It was well written and the author did a good amount of research and interviewing to really expose to true life of Tupac. Everyone needs to learn from him. I recommend this book to anybody because of how informative it is. The only problem was that it wasn’t always the most attention-catching.

Recommendations: Their Eyes Were Watching God, Street Pharm.
