The book Blood and Thunder: The Epic Story of Kit Carson and the Conquest of the American West, written by Hampton Sides, is a smashing story that tells the reader about the adventure of conquering the west coast. This book goes into depth on Kit Carson and his adventures with the Navajo Indians. It tells of friendships and rivalries with people that he and his troops met along the way. The whole story is a historical journey and it paints such vivid pictures it’s almost as if the reader is living through the things that Kit Carson lived through.
On a scale of one to five I would give this book a four, because most historical books get boring to read after a while, but this book does the opposite. While reading there are different ways that Hampton Sides brings the readers in, one way this done is by making the story flow with a style that is unlike most historical books. The book seems to be more than just a historical book about an American man who ventured into the unknown west.
Another book that is really interesting and flows nicely is The Prince of Venice Beach by Blake Nelson, since the book tells a good story that is really intriguing and it doesn’t disappoint.
